Howard Bunsis’ presentation included numerous facts and figures about how the USG spends its money and how HBI’s fare in system spending. He has graciously allowed us to post a copy of his slides:
Bunsis: Georgia Presentation October 2016
The theme of the meeting was Historically Black Institutions in Georgia. From what we in the Executive Committee can tell, this meeting will be the first, at least in recent memory, hosted by an HBI.
- Our guest speakers were:
- (1) Howard Bunsis, from Eastern Michigan University. A Professor of Accounting, Howard is also the President of the Collective Bargaining Congress of the AAUP at the national level. Although Georgia is a “Right to Work” state, there are many things we can learn about bargaining at our schools, public and private, especially as it pertains to academic freedom, tenure, and shared governance
- (2) Dr. Cecil Canton, from California State University, Sacramento campus. Cecil is the Chair of the AAUP’s Committee on HBI’s.
- (3) Dr. Micheal Crafton, the Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic and Faculty Affairs. Micheal is the Provost at West Georgia, but is filling in for Dr. Houston Davis who himself is filling in as Interim President at Kennesaw State during that institution’s Presidential Search.
